Phoenix Early Music Society Concert
at Fleischer Museum
, United States, Scottsdale
|This performance will feature a recorder/harpsichord duo, made up of Martha Salzman and Darlene Tillack. Salzman has played in the East, England and Europe. The Oxford Times noted that she “demonstrated a warmth and affection for the music as well as that infinitely more elusive quality – an authority that makes you sit up and listen.” Tillack is a founding member of Musica Dolce, an early music ensemble and has been called a “recorder wizard” by the Tucson Citizen.
The Phoenix Early Music Society (PEMS) was founded in 1983 by local music lovers as a meeting ground for people with an interest in early music, and to present formal and informal concerts to the broad community of music lovers. “Early Music,” music of the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, is an expanding segment of classical music. The informed performance of this music has not only revived a beautiful and exciting genre, but has had a profound effect on all classical music presentation. PEMS is dedicated to bringing the world’s finest early music ensembles to the Phoenix metropolitan area. These concerts feature world-class performances on period instruments by internationally known concert artists.
