Our gallery is known in Brazil and internationally for its distinctive portrayal of contemporary Brazilian art.
The Gabinete de Arte was founded in 1973. The gallery exhibits predominantly three dimensional work. The sculptures and work exhibited deal primarily with light, space and site-specific considerations. The gallery's artists tend to address contemporary issues in art with unrelentless cultural tenacity. The older generation of artists represented by the gallery developed the Brazilian Neo-Concrete movement. They are Amilcar de Castro, Willys de Castro, Lygia Clark, Mira Schendel, Franz Weissman, Arthur Luiz Piza and Sergio Camargo whose estate is entirely represented by Raquel Arnaud.
The younger artists who are witnessing the consolidation of a new contemporary language in Brazilian art are: Raul Mourão, Elisa Bracher, Frida Baranek, Waltercio Caldas, Carlito Carvalhosa, Daniel Feingold, Iole de Freitas, Carmela Gross, Elizabeth Jobim, Maria Carmen Perlingeiro, Ana Linnemann among others.
