Burg Altena, Germany

Formally established in 1932 and located in the Centre of Rome, near the Teatro Argentina, the Burcardo Library and Theatre Collection (an office of the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers) is housed in a late 15th Century building. The theatre library owns about 40.000 volumes, from XVIth century editions to contemporary publications. They include theatre works of all ages, nations, genres, critical essays and histories of theatre and performing arts in all their forms, reference books and repertories, library science professional literature.
