Saltdal museum contain a collection of 25 original rural buildings. The museum is at the site of the old Skippergården farm, established about 1750. Here is also "The Bloodroadmuseum" located. The Bloodroadmuseum describes the horror and experiences the East European captives had in German prisonship in Norway during the 1942-1945. The germans were looking for better transportpossibilities to the eastfront. In North Norway they started to exeed the existing railway. Captives from the eastfront were brought here and they were forced to build it.
