MUZEUM OKREGOWE W TARNOWIE
Museum is housed in 16th century Renaissance buildings on Market-square. The Regional Museum consists of several museums in Tarnów and the Tarnów region. In the Regional Museum one will also find European collections including paintings, sculpture graphic art, as well as collections containing the history of archaeology and numismatics from various parts of Poland and from this particular region.
The Town – Hal. Gothic building rebuilt in the Renaissance style in 16th century. It offers a permanent display a collection of china ranging from a Meissen to china from Vienna and Berlin. Also great polish painters and display dedicated to general J. Bem, a hero of national independence in Poland and Hungary.
The Ethnographical Museum offers rich collections of traditional craft, regional costumes and art. The Ethnographical Museum in Tarnów is the only in Poland to collect records of history and culture of Gypsies.
The Castle in Debno – dates back to the end of the 15th century. The redecorated interior presents Gothic stonework. Rooms are furnished features from various epochs.
The Mansion in Dolega – typical wooden nobleman’s mansion (19th century). It offers a record of rich noblemen homestead history and that of a lot of people who lived in it.
The house of Wincenty Witos in Wierzchoslawice – biographical museum dedicated to an eminent peasant’s politician three times elected Polish Prime Minister.
Koryznowka in Nowy Wisnicz – biographical museum dedicated to Jan Matejko (1838-93), an eminent Polish painter.
Zalipie – ‘painted village’. Best known is museum – farm of Felicja Curylowa (1904-1974)
