In the museum village of Volksdorf, the last remnants of rustic Volksdorf are preserved in the original place. The surrounding area has changed into a modern quarter of a large city, in which the the museum village of Volksdorf presents itself as an idyllic place. The village consists of three farmhouses dating to the 17th and 18th century, a farm workers´ house (now a restaurant), a forge, a groatsmill, and a barn. The exterior ground with gardens, a baker`s oven, farmyards, and fences imitates the original conditions and allows the visitors to get the feeling of the rustic athmosphere. On the grounds of the museum village, some of the typical farming animals of former village life are kept(sheep, goats, chickens, geese).
