Burg Altena, Germany

The Jussi Björling Museum, opened on 22 October 1994, is situated in the center of Borlänge. In the museum, the visitor will find a rich collection illustrating Jussi Björling's life, career and recordings.

The museum shows about a dozen of Björling's stage costumes and one which was worn by Enrico Caruso and given to Jussi Björling by Caruso's widow. There are personal objects and documents of different kinds, works of art, gramophone records (for instance, almost 800 different CD issues), etc. Björling's dressing-room at the Royal Opera in Stockholm has been reconstructed with original furniture. The exhibition is illustrated by a large number of photographs. All texts are also written in English.

In a Listening and Study Room, the visitor can play Jussi Björling's recordings and follow his career in an extensive collection of press cuttings, programs and other printed matter (including more than 4000 reviews of performances and recordings). Videos with Björling are regularly shown in the Assembly Hall, which also houses an almost complete reference collection of Jussi Björling's recordings, issued as well as unissued.
