PADSTOW MUSEUM
The museum is to be found just 50m from the harbourside in the ancient fishing port of Padstow situated on the North coast of Cornwall. This part of Cornwall is renowned for it's outstanding coastal scenery, rugged cliffs, sandy beaches and wildlife. The Camel Estuary on which Padstow is situated is very popular with watersports & birdwatching activities and is well known for the Camel Cycle Trail.
The museum houses an interesting collection of local exhibits covering the following:-
Shipbuilding tools/artefacts
Obby-Oss traditions artefacts/photographs
Shipwreck and Lifeboats photographs
Misc railway & Geology artefacts & information
Local Social history
The museum is also able to help in a limited way with local family history.
Guided walks of the town can be organised by prior arrangement.
The museum also caters for school party visits, again by prior arrangement.
We now have a new website www.padstowmuseum.co,uk this is worthy of a visit containing much information on content.
We are sorry to announce that our funding and promise of a new purpose built building have been withdrawn by the local source. We have a promise of a suitable site but now need to raise £350.000 to build a new museum.
