The House of Humour and Satire is a cultural institute in Bulgaria whose most earnest interest and preoccupationhave been the everlasting and ubiquitous sense of humour cherished by men all over the world. It came into the world on April Fools's Day, 1972 in the town of Gabrovo, and today enjoys an enviable fame as an international center of humour and satire on solely on the planet Earth, but among the stars as well... A new planet in the Cosmos was discovered on April 1st, 1976 and named after Gabrovo - the town which has become famous for its folklore humour and humour traditions.
The House collects works of fine art, literature, photography, etc in which humour and satire are employed as means of expression; studies humour and satire in the folklore and lifestyle of the peoples in the world; promotes that well-wishing and creative kind of humour which brings people together rather than oppose them to each other.
