(28.06.2002 , South Africa, Mossel Bay )
Annual Report - April 2001 to March 2002

1 General Information
1.1 Voorsitter van die Trusteeraad se Verslag

Looking back on the year under review, the Bartolomeu Dias Museum can once again say with pride that it is indeed the place where cultures meet. The visitors’ book shows that people from all over the world visited the museum and their remarks are so positive that we can be sure that they will be good ambassadors for our museum in their respective countries. The cultural strength of the Museum was further enhanced by a broad variety of cultural activities in which all the communities of Mossel Bay participated to bring the diversity of our people under the attention of the visitors.

The valuable contribution of the Management Committee, the Trustees of the Dias Heritage Trust and our loyal corps of volunteers once again made a major impact on the successful operation of the museum. We thank them for their unselfish conduct and trust that we in future will be able to co-operate in the same spirit to the benefit of the museum. A special word of thanks to all our dedicated staff. They did an excellent job under difficult circumstances and were always willing to walk the extra mile. John Thackray recently rejoined our staff after his year in Disney World and we trust that he would be able to make an even better contribution with the experience and knowledge gained during his stay in the USA.

Eerstens wil ek Me.
