Forster - Tuncurry Bridge

The Bridge connecting the two towns is turning 50 years on 18th July. The Museum ,together with a group of interested people, is putting together a complete day of entertainment,including food, on both sides of the bridge. The Bridge opening reinactment ceremony and cutting the ribbon by the decendants of the original people will be performed at 11am and will include the then Minister of Transport Hon Milton Morris OAM and the represtative of the bridge construction company, Holland Constructions. Motor cars of the 1950's will be in attendance for viewing but also to transport elderly people fron Rest Homes who wish to witness this historic event. The Bridge has never been allocated a name so we are inviting Schools as well as the Public to submit a name. Entry forms are available in local shops,The Information Centre and Council Library and the Tuncurry Museum and returned to places where obtained for inclusion in a list we have to submit to the relavent Gov. Department for recognition. A Photo Competition is also running with a Prize of 2 ret. flights to Queensland,Lake Cruise on the Free Spirit so far. A Laser Light display will finish the Day's Festivities.
