Amber and the Amber Road - Museum Gross Schweinbarth
Amber - not just hardened resin
The waves of the Baltic Sea used to throw amber – the hardened resin which was dripping down from trees fifty million years ago – ashore since olden times. Along the Amber Road the amber was transported South.
An exhibition in the museum of Gross Schweinbarth – located in a 17th century estate – explains the history of this ancient track and the significance of amber in jewellery, medicine, and mythology
