The Great Lakes Historical Museum has several local history publications for sale. These books include the following: "THE HISTORY OF FORSTER, TIONA, PACIFIC PALMS, SMITHS LAKE, COOMBA and BUNGWAHL" which was compiled by Mrs June Wright in 1999 and edited & reprinted in 2005(Cost$30.00+$7.00 post NSW) The book tells the story of the original Aboriginal inhabitants in the area, diaries of Captain Cook as he passed by the area, the first European settlers, the rise and fall of the shipbuilding industry, shipwrecks along the nearby coast, the oyster and fishing industries, personalities and families and the area's growth into one of Australia's pre-eminent holiday destinations. "THE HISTORY OF TUNCURRY, DARAWANK, FAILFORD, NABAIAC, WANG WAUK, COOLONGOLOOK AND KRAMBACH" which was compiled by Mrs Elva Carmichael in 2000. (Cost $25.00 + $7.00 postage NSW. The book also tells the story of the Aboriginal people and some of their customs, European exploration and settlement, the timber industry, missionaries, the shipbuilding industry, especially at Tuncurry and Failford, the fishing and oyster industry, the Itialian fishermen, floods at Tuncurry and the lives of some of the people that make up the history of the beautiful, subtropical, coastal Australian town of Tuncurry. "TUNCURRY, THEN AND NOW" which was compiled by Mrs June Wright. (Cost $15.00 + $2 postage NSW). "The Ferryman, the History of Forster/Tuncurry Passenger and Vehicular Ferry Service from 1890 to 1959" written by Philip Howard. (Cost $15.00+$3 NSW). "Past Days around Wallis Lake, Its Rivers and Villages, (Pictorial recollections of early life in Forster/Tuncurry and the villages of the Wallamba Watershed)", compiled by John Doust. (Cost $12.50 +$2). "The Hospital at Nabiac" compiled by Laura Sykes. (Cost $10.00 +$3).
