The Great Lakes Historical Museum has several areas which it hires out for groups and organisations. There are several local groups who regularly hold one of their monthly meetings at the museum and use the picnic area and barbeque area. The Embroidery Group use the Pioneer Cottage to display the many lovely items which they have embroidered over the year. The Mid North Coast Chapter of Museums Australia have held their half-yearly meeting in the central area of the Pioneer Cottage. One of the local dressmakers holds a Fashion Parade in the grounds of the museum with some of the museum members taking part in modeling the lovely clothes.
