Otto Duke of Bavaria and Svabia
Inv.Nr. 436

The sculpture of Otto Duke of Bavaria and Svabia was created by Hans Juncker, a famous baroque sculpturer, at 1608 to replace a gothic wooden sculpture placed on top of the sarcophague of the duke and demolished during the "Markglräfler war" in 1552. Duke Otto died in 982 and donated the city of Aschaffenburg to the archbishop of Mainz. He also patronised the convent St. Peter and Alexander, which had been founded by his parents and was praised as founder of the convent in medieval times.
