Roman helmet mask
Inv.Nr. 9047

The iron mask once was part of a highly decorated helmet of a roman mounted soldier. It once was decorated with gilt silver and gold. It was found at the castrum of Stockstadt, which was an important check point at the roman limes with its own harbour on the river Main. Such helmets were used by roman mounted soldiers at special occasions, like sacred games.
