Roman altar
Inv.Nr. 185

The relief shown, depicting god Neptune, was dedicated to all gods of health and medicine by the roman physician Marcus Rubrius Zosimus at the beginning of the second century AD. Zosimus was born in Ostia and had successfully cured his commander in the roman castrum of Obernburg. Therefore he dedicated this stone to the helpful gods, not forgetting Neptune, the god of his birthplace.
