|Here the Parable of the Vineyard in Isaiah Chapter 5 comes to life.|
Isaiah's Parable of the Vineyard is one of the most famous parables in the Bible:
"My beloved had a vineyard on a fruitful hill.
He broke the ground, cleared it of stones,
and planted it with choice vines.
He built a watchtower inside it, and also hewed a winepress in it."
(Isaiah 5:1, 2)
Here, we can see how the prophet employs the components of the vineyard, and the process of carving it out of Israel's rocky soil, to convey his message. Growing grapes requires labor and love, as Isaiah's audience knew from experience. The prophet's words "the vineyard of the Lord of Hosts is the House of Israel" held great power for his contemporaries. In Isaiah's Vineyard at Neot Kedumim, these words come alive for us in all their power, depth, and nuance.
