Our Hidden Treasure
The Waterbury Antique Clock
The Waterbury antique clock, displayed in the living room of the C&E Railway Station, is the original clock from the Strathcona Station. It was serviced for over 50 years by Mr. MacDonald of MacDonald's Jewellers and acquired by his estate. In the 1960's, the Honourable George Prudham purchased the clock from the estate, with the provosion that it always remain in the Old Strathcona area. For over 20 years, the clock hung in Prudham Building Supplies on Edmonton's south side. When Prudham's closed, the clock was donated to the C&E Railway Station by Cathy and Bob Legate and children, thus preserving its tradition in the Old Strathcona area.
The antique clock features a dark oak cabinet and working brass Roman numerals. The clock is truly our Museum's "hidden treasure."
