Roses by Franz A. Bischoff
Roses, 40" x 50" o/c

Franz A. Bischoff, born in Austria in 1864, received his training in Europe. He began his artistic career as a china painter where he earned the nickname “King of the rose painters.” It wasn’t until Bischoff settled in Southern California in 1906 that he began his career as a painter of still lifes and landscapes. He was an important part of the California art community and his studio became a favorite meeting place for artists.
