Albarelli by Ian Emens

The stone ware pot were used in pharmacies to display unguents and medicine. They bear a similiar inscription: "I E, FAVWE RECHENT NOCH NYCHT 1590". The letters I E stand for Ian Emens, a famous producer of costly stone ware in the city of Raeren near Aachen in the 16th century. He loved to decorate his pots and jars with riddles, like this: women yet donīt calculate.
