The model of "The Eldorado II" was built by Mr Lyn Nicholson in memory of his father, James, and his two brothers, John and Laurie.
Mr. Nicholson made the beautiful model using mainly Burmese Teak. The keel, stem post and stern posts were made from Pacific Maple while the ribs were made from Silver Oak.
The model measures 140cm in length and is 34cm wide.
The ship "The Eldorado II" was built ibn 1940s and was 54ft in length, 12ft in beam and 5ft draught, the planking, ribs and stringers were made from spotted gum. The rest of the timbers were of hardwoods. All of the timber crooks used in the construction were adzed by hand from tee tree timbers gathered locally.
