That is exactly what the authors of this volume which without being experts in the area, and accomplished with scientific acrimonious, offer this great volume of work with nervousness and filled with worthy passion and admiration, realize, a definitive book for Caracal municipality. They present all remarkable objectives and realizing a perfect panoramic of an important locality from Oltenia, a region geographical and historical well documented. In 1831, Caracal City counted 963 houses, being the second largest city from Olt region having important people, which, in 1837 had good time at parties shooting, here are today two military staff reused to "produce” a volume that will surely have a great echo effective than the past-time shots. The book preserves what is most beautiful, important and re-echo from monumental history and the present of this plain city, that beyond anecdote that have its flavor, is a lively presence from all the point of view, inclusive cultural, under nowadays leaders’ wand. But to be able to look into the future, we need to understanding our past and especially, to preserve everything that is valuable and definitive for us, but also for those friendly, who will come to visit our homes, after European integration. Also from this point of view, I believe that the volume dedcated to the presentation of Caracal City, included in a modern language as English, represents a model for all of us but also a huge achievement for Caracal community, that entirely nowadays blessed this place where lives in Romania. On more time, now and here, the ones which represent it are: colonel (r) eng. Ion Marin and colonel (r) eng. George Bănică, authors of this volume, as well as those which made their utmost for publishing it under exceptional graphics and printing conditions and which together represent Caracal City Hall and Caracal Town Council.
