The Naturmuseum Thurgau is a small museum of natural history financed by the state of the canton Thurgau, Switzerland. The museum is located in a historical building from 1771, in the centre of the old town in Frauenfeld, the capital of the canton. Frauenfeld is 45 kilometers away from Zurich and easily reached by train or by car. The museum is near the railway station and fully suitable for wheelchairs.
The museums permanent exhibitions show geology, fauna, flora and natural history of the canton Thurgau. It is renewed between 2004 and 2008. A programm of two to three special exhibitions per year is shown. For further information to special exhibitions please use the link to our homepage.
The museum is especially well suitable for children and families. A varied programm of guided tours, lectures, study trips, concerts, children and family afternoons and other events is organized every year. Also part of the museum is a botanical garden with historic useful plants and herbs, as well as a bistro and a small museum shop with souvenirs, fine books and exclusive articles.
