ATLANTA CONTEMPORARY ART CENTER/NEXUS PRESS

Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (The Contemporary)--formerly Nexus Contemporary Art Center--has been a defining force in Atlanta’s cultural life. What began as a mere concept in 1973 has evolved into an organizational model for contemporary art centers throughout the nation. The Contemporary is a multidisciplinary arts center that exhibits local, regional, national, and international artists. Through our four major programming areas, critically acclaimed Gallery exhibitions, award-winning publications via Nexus Press, a prestigious Artist Studio Program and a broad spectrum of educational outreach programs that serve many diverse audiences, The Contemporary strives to provide programs and services that are unique in Atlanta and the Southeast.

Nexus Press
For more than 22 years, the award-winning Nexus Press has been devoted to the production of offset artists’ books. As the only book press in the United States devoted to the creation of fine artist books, over 200 high quality, original books of art have been produced at Nexus Press. Nexus Press has collaborated with both national and international artists from every continent, including a dramatic series of international artists’ books produced as part of the 1996 Olympic Arts Festival. Nexus Press books are distributed to and included in the major collections of artists’ books throughout the world including the Museum of Modern Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art. Each year, hundreds of artists throughout the world vie for the most prestigious and highly competitive Nexus Press International Residency Program.
