This catalogue accompanies an exhibition of the same title held at the University Museum and Art Gallery, HKU from 31 March to 23 June 2003. It contains articles written by Xu Gaozhe on the history of Taoist culture in Shanxi province, and Liu Yang on the relationship between Taoism and Buddhism in popular iconography, as well as a profile of the Taoist religion. With over 50 colour illustrations of Taoist art objects dating from the Sui to the Qing dynasties, the exhibition and catalogue illustrate how Taoism, China's foremost indigenous religion, is very much a part of Chinese culture.
