The C&E Station Project
The Junior League of Edmonton
IN 1977, to celbrate its upcoming 20th Anniversary, the Junior League of Edmonton decided to restore the C&E Railway Station to serve as its headquarters and meeting place. It was later determined, however, that the Station was unreclaimable and the decision was made to construct a replica. After raising $182,000 architect Larry Taylor designed the building using the Innisfail Station as the prototype.
The replica of the C&E Station officially opened in 1982 and in April 1983 held its first public show. Since that time, with the help of private donors and Edmonton Morse Telegraph Club, the League has developed the Station into a Railway Museum that is an integral part of Old Strathcona, Edmonton's most vibrant heritage community.
