Description [EN]

The Börde Museum looks forward to your visit!

As a museum of the district, we are an extracurricular educational venue. It is important for us to maintain the museum as a space for communication and a culture of remembrance.
Our exhibition is particularly distinguished by the agricultural collection, the herb garden, and the castle itself with its historical past (Andreas von Meyendorff).
As an event location with regional appeal (visitor radius over 200 km), we aim to offer our visitors a special experience. Therefore, we plan our events tailored to our facility and our collection inventory.
Generally, our collections are at the forefront of our work. Their preservation and the publication, presentation, and dissemination of knowledge about the exhibits and their use is a philosophy for us. Therefore, public-friendly and sustainable museum work is important to us. We offer our visitors, for example, the opportunity to learn about old craft techniques. We work according to the recognized standards of ICOM (International Council of Museums) and the standards for museums of the DMB (German Museum Association).
Good networking with schools in the region allows us to apply our educational mission even to the youngest visitors and contribute to the formation of a regional identity; the Eastphalian dialect of the region is also maintained and preserved by us.
As a public cultural institution, our focus is always on making the history of the region vivid and tangible for all visitors.
Our goal is to contribute to establishing a regional identity.
We aim to provide visitors with an image of the Magdeburg Börde and its history, starting from the geological foundations to the use of "natural resources" and the "cultural and technological history" of the region.
In addition, we seek to integrate into society through collaborations with other institutions and contribute to a positive public perception of the museum and the region. This goal is supported by timely and careful processing of inquiries.
Our work follows national and international standards for museum operations, which include:a comprehensible, contemporary, and scientifically sound concept for collection and exhibitionensuring professional supervision, public access, and the careful treatment of objects regarding their accommodation and exhibitionthe recording and verification of proof of ownership of existing and offered objects
We fulfill our public duty through regular opening hours and implement social pricing. We operate economically but are not profit-oriented.
