In 1986, leading representatives from research, industry and users founded the Plastics Museum Association in order to document, research and present the scientific, technical, economic and cultural significance of plastics in the past and present to a broad public through the German Plastics Museum.
The German Plastics Museum is not a conventional museum with a permanent home, but instead hosts traveling exhibitions at various locations throughout Germany.
In our virtual museum, over 7,000 objects from our collection can be researched in text and images.
The collection of around 22,000 objects is housed on permanent loan in the Peter Behrens Building, the central depot of the LVR Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Hansastrasse 80.
