Description [EN]

Founded in 1986, the Käthe Kollwitz Museum is dedicated to the life´s work of one of Germany´s most important artists. Käthe Kollwitz (1867-1945) lived and worked in Berlin for over 50 years and created unmistakable graphic and sculptural works whose socially critical and peace-promoting messages are understandable to everyone and more relevant than ever. The museum, formerly located in Fasanenstraße, aims to honor her social and societal commitment and bring her great artistic skills to life.

Since September 2022, the museum has been housed in the new, prestigious premises of the theater building at Charlottenburg Palace. Here, visitors can immerse themselves in the complex pictorial world of Käthe Kollwitz. The extensive collection presentation offers a comprehensive overview of the artist´s entire oeuvre and pays tribute to her significant life´s work.

In addition to the permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions dealing with Käthe Kollwitz´ contemporaries and her influence on contemporary art complement the museum visit. A varied educational and event program invites visitors to participate, reflect and linger.
