The State Museum Koblenz is part of the General Directorate for Cultural Heritage Rhineland-Palatinate and has been located in the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress since its founding in 1956. Spread across the fortress, we showcase permanent and temporary exhibitions in four exhibition buildings.
One of our focuses is on the cultural and economic history of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Questions of special significance include the natural spatial and historical-political peculiarities as well as the intellectual movements with their impulses for craft and industry. The focus is on developments that changed the world starting from Rhineland-Palatinate.
Rhineland-Palatinate is home to Germany´s largest vineyards. The House of Indulgence presents viticulture as a significant economic sector of the state in a permanent exhibition. In the House of Photography, the State Museum presents objects from the state collection on the history of photography in Rhineland-Palatinate in a permanent exhibition. It provides an overview of the history of the medium from its beginnings to the present.
In collaboration with the State Archaeology, Koblenz branch, we present traces of human life along the Middle Rhine and Moselle from prehistory and early history in a permanent exhibition at the House of Archaeology.
A wide range of museum educational activities for young and old, along with diverse accompanying programs, enhance the attractiveness of our exhibitions.

Die vier Ausstellungshäuser des Landesmuseums Koblenz bieten eine weitestgehende Barrierefreiheit in einem historischen, denkmalgeschützten Gebäudekomplex. Die Ausstellungsräume sind über Rampen und Aufzüge barrierefrei erreichbar. In einem Großteil der Aufzüge ist taktile Schrift/Ansage vorhanden. Der Hands on-Bereich im Haus der Archäologie bietet an ausgewählten Terminen (i.d.R. erster Sonntag im Monat sowie an Feiertagen) bzw. auf Anfrage die Möglichkeit, Objekte in die Hand zu nehmen.Die Anreise zur Festung ist über die Seilbahn Koblenz und den Schrägaufzug barrierefrei möglich.Parkplätze (kostenpflichtig) für Besucher mit Schwerbehinderung und entsprechendem Parkausweis sind vorhanden.
