The Karlstein Museum has been housed in the former school building in Dettingen since 1986 and, across approximately 300 square meters, features: 

local geology, raw materials, rocks, minerals, and their uses, illustrated with examples an outdoor area with large rock specimens the Battle of Dettingen in 1743, when the British dealt a crushing defeat to the French during the War of the Austrian Succession Prehistory with archaeological finds and history from the Middle Ages to modern times, including local, church, and railway history Children’s sections with toys spanning about 150 yearsGraslitzer Stube: this room commemorates the refugees who found a new home in Dettingen and Großwelzheim after being displaced Exhibitions on various topics are held periodically and announced locally.
 

The museum extends from the basement to the attic and is accessible only by stairs; therefore, it is not wheelchair accessible.
