Germany´s first and only Royal Air Force museum invites you on a journey into the past, through 45 years of Royal Air Force presence in Laarbruch, Weeze and the Lower Rhine. The Royal Air Force was stationed in Weeze Laarbruch from 1954 to 1999. This is an important period in the history of the municipality of Weeze. Volunteers have set themselves the task of documenting the special relationship with the British and the Royal Air Force in a museum. The museum was opened to the public for the first time on 3 June 2007. The aim of the museum is to document the history of the former Laarbruch military airfield. The former church of St Peter´s was renovated for this purpose and now houses a wide range of exhibits, including aircraft cockpits, anti-aircraft missiles, ejection seats, dioramas, uniforms and much more. An English Electric Canberra PR.7 has been on display since March 2016. A Hawker Hunter T.7 was also acquired for the collection. The subtitle of the museum is ‘For peace and friendship’. This is an important aspect and highlights the many friendly relationships that have developed between the British, Germans and Dutch.
