Description [EN]

A former pumping station of the Wilhelmshall Saltworks, the Lower Drillinghouse on the banks of the stream Prim, was converted into the Salt Museum in 1981. With a round brine tank, with its unique roofing, relocated there in 1983, it gained a unique brine reservoir as an exhibition building.

The Saltworks Museum “Unteres Bohrhaus” showcases the history of salt production in the upper Neckar region, and specifically the process of boiling brine at the Wilhelmshall saltworks in Rottweil-Altstadt.
