Station: [11] Spit roast and shoe print

Here we see another red agate. We particularly like this one because it reminds us of a medium-rare piece of spit roast.

Spit roast is a specialty here in Idar-Oberstein. However, it was origianlly a tradition of the gauchos in Brasil to grill their meat on open wood fire, which the German immigrants then copied and brought back to Germany along with the gemstones.

Many restaurants in the city of Idar-Oberstein serve spit roast, which has been turned into a regional delicacy over the course of decades.

A little further on, we discover another combination of rock crystal and amethyst. It looks like a shoe print and is size 12.5.

And it actually looks as if someone has walked along the wall.
Perhaps our ghost, who is haunting this mine.
