Description [EN]

In the gatehouse of the Wellingsbüttel manor, the Alstertal Museum, which belongs to the Alsterverein e. V., founded in 1900, presents regional historical collections of the surrounding area.

Since its opening in 1957, the museum has housed both permanent and temporary exhibitions featuring objects from the Upper Alster region.

The permanent exhibition focuses on the history of Wellingsbüttel and places particular emphasis on the former noble estate and historic village life. A notable item is a copy of the Lehnsbrief (feudal charter) issued in 1810 by the Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck for the Wellingsbüttel estate; this copy is displayed with a special permit from the Danish royal house.
