Description [EN]

The German Museum of Culinary Art and Table Culture is located in Frankfurt am Main; it opened on 25 November 2015.

The museum positions itself as the continuation of an earlier institution: it is linked to the Kochkunstmuseum des Internationalen Verbands der Köche, which existed from 1909 to 1937. The holdings that had been stored at that time were completely destroyed during the Second World War.

The present collection also includes objects from the Deutsches Gaststättenmuseum, which was operated in Frankfurt am Main between 1941 and 1944.

The museum is sponsored by the Verein Deutsche Tafelkultur e. V.; the collection items belong to the TafelKulturStiftung founded by the association. Through the purchase of a collection of menu cards and menus from a collector in Hamburg, the museum now houses one of the most extensive holdings of this kind in Frankfurt am Main.
