Description [EN]
The world is full of questions, and experimenta in Heilbronn invites you to find the answers yourself: What does it feel like in the eye of a storm? How does the sense of time work? And does a slice of bread really always land butter-side down? In Germany’s largest science center, everyone from three to 103 years old can explore things playfully.
At 275 hands-on stations you can experience science and technology with all your senses. Whether flying through the air on a paraglider in the air course or testing your reflexes on the push machine — touching and trying things out is expressly encouraged in the four themed worlds. That way you get to know yourself and the world better.
The exhibition is as extraordinary as the futuristic building itself. A highlight is the Science Dome, a unique mix of planetarium, cinema and theater. The 360-degree dome and the rotating auditorium make the Science Dome a magical place to explore the mysteries of science: guests can experience lightning up close in a live show or dive into the infinity of space.
On experimenta’s roof the journey of discovery continues. The observatory offers a fascinating view into the universe. From sunspots to gaseous eruptions on the solar surface — in good weather there is much to marvel at. Tip: thanks to a special adapter on the telescope, the impressive images can even be captured with your own smartphone. And in the experimental theater, children learn about scientific phenomena in age-appropriate, entertaining show and hands-on formats developed specifically for them.
Arguably among the most fascinating classrooms are the experimenta labs. A dedicated team of experienced teachers and scientists runs more than 60 courses that encourage independent observation and research questions. The Maker Space is designed for young creators, providing space and equipment to tinker, develop and design.
