Dischingen Local History Museum
The local history museum in Dischingen is a reflection of rural life on the Härtsfeld in the past. Many everyday items from agricultural and artisanal life, which can be seen in the museum rooms, were still found in almost every household in the Dischingen area as recently as 50 years ago. Country doctor Dr. Horst Moeferdt observed during his patient visits that the rapid economic change on the Härtsfeld produced a previously unknown "throwaway mentality," and he succeeded very early on in assembling an extensive collection of household items within just a few years. In 1966, as part of the 600th-anniversary celebration of Dischingen’s elevation to market town status, the collections were reorganized and have since been shown to the public in the building of the former kindergarten.
