The building was erected in 1760 as a school. Since 1975 it has housed exhibits on the town's and the Huguenots' history. A rarity is an ornamental clock made completely out of straw. From the Gründerzeit there are two richly decorated tiled stoves from Strasburg potteries to admire.
Every year there are two to three special exhibitions. The permanent exhibition presents the town's history under the influence of the Huguenots and a display area on the life and work of boxing legend Max Schmeling, who was born not far from Strasburg, in Klein Luckow.
The tourist information is also located in the museum. In the annex the historic schoolroom can be visited during the museum's opening hours.
