In the Hamburg district of Osdorf, the Klick Kindermuseum (also written as KL!CK Kindermuseum) enriches the Osdorfer Born with a hands-on experience offering for children who want to create and experiment actively. The museum is located at Achtern Born 127, directly adjacent to the Born Center shopping centre, and uses both indoor and outdoor spaces for its activities.
From its emphasis on providing children with independent opportunities to experience, various educational areas have developed. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the museum runs an off-site programme called Klick OnTour, which brings exhibitions to other locations or develops content specifically for companies.
For schools, the Klick is available as a complementary learning environment. Thematic focuses, for example on nutrition, can be set up in consultation; furthermore, courses are offered as part of full-day schools and visits are organised as day trips, during which joint catering can be arranged.
Day-care centres find their own programme at the museum: six times a year a musical children’s theatre performance is offered at 10 a.m. During holiday periods there are also programmes for groups tailored to the needs of childcare institutions.
Families can hire the venue for private celebrations; in addition, a special room called Licht und Luft is aimed at toddlers up to two years old and offers small, age-appropriate experiments.
The Klick is also active in the neighbourhood: with projects in several quarters and a cooperation with the Bücherhallen, the museum promotes the telling of personal stories and children’s curiosity. Overall, the Klick Kindermuseum sees itself as an experiential space that combines participatory learning and local networking.
