The exhibition program of the Erlangen Art Museum is a museum for contemporary art. The focus is primarily on the artistic work of artists from Erlangen and the Nuremberg metropolitan region, as well as Franconia and the Upper Palatinate. The museum presents solo, group, thematic, and memorial exhibitions, as well as photography and art from regional collectors.

The museum is located on the first floor of the baroque Loewenich Palais, which was built in the mid-18th century and served for a long time as the residence of a tobacco manufacturer´s family.
