Visit the Silk Museum and journey along the Silk Road to discover Macclesfield’s silk story, along with an imaginative programme of special exhibitions and events for all ages. Take a tour of Paradise Mill – the last operating silk mill in Macclesfield and your chance to see a disappearing glimpse of the North West’s industrial past. Discover the 200 year old Old Sunday School built for the child workers of the silk industry with displays exploring the history of the building, the social history of Macclesfield along with changing community displays. The Old Sunday School also houses a Cinema, Café, Shop and Makers’ Place – a great venue to see artists at work and take home a souvenir of your visit. Located in historic West Park is West Park Museum housing the Egyptian collections of Marianne Brocklehurst and fine art, particularly by Tarka the Otter illustrator Charles Tunnicliffe.
