Description [EN]

The Metalworking Museum is a lively museum of technology and cultural history. At its center is the history of ironworking, the region's most important trade. Three historic workshops — a nail forge, a corkscrew workshop and a file-maker’s workshop — authentically represent the state of past centuries, when a forge, bellows and anvil together with various fixtures, hammers, pincers and other tools formed the basic equipment of the local smiths.

In a modern, interactive permanent exhibition the museum provides information about the way of life and customs of the inhabitants of the Haseltal, whose livelihoods were based on metalworking and agriculture. Visitors can learn a great deal about the local dialect, old traditions, flax processing and part-time farm work. Various interactive terminals make history tangible and vividly convey working and living conditions. Come visit us! The team at the Metalworking Museum looks forward to your visit.
