MuCast is a museum of the ancient copper mine of Monte Loreto, in Masso, a little village between Casarza Ligure and Castiglione Chiavarese, at about 20 minutes by car from Sestri Levante (Liguria, Genoa).

Here you can find:

- the archaeological museum dedicated to more than 5000 years of mining history: the working tools for copper mining from Prehistory to Modern Age

- the "XX Settembre" Gallery, a copper mine dated back to 1850, at the moment the only mine that you can visit in Liguria

- the open air archaeological site that lead the visitors into the Copper Age (3500 B.P.)

The guided tour allow the visitors to explore the site and learn about the history of work and copper mining from Copper Age, through the Byzantine Age, till the second half of the XXI Century.

The archaeological digs in Masso are proved to be the oldest mining finds in all Western Europe.

MuCast is a part of an Archaeological Museum System about the history of the East part of Liguria together with MuSeL, Archaeological and City Museum of Sestri Levante, and MAC, Archaeological Museum of Chiavari.

MuCast can organize guided tours for every type of visitors, families, schools and groups, it can organize events and workshops.
