Museum für Stadt- und Industriegeschichte Troisdorf (MUSIT)

At MUSIT — the Museum of Urban and Industrial History Troisdorf — it is vividly illustrated how industrial development, major companies and outstanding entrepreneurial personalities shaped the social, architectural and infrastructural development of the industrial city.

Particular attention is paid to the history of the plastics industry, whose development began in Troisdorf in 1905 and from here sparked worldwide innovations. The extensive collection makes it possible both to trace this industry's history from its beginnings to the present and to showcase individual types of plastic in temporary exhibitions.

The permanent exhibition traces Troisdorf's urban history since 1800 and, with exhibits, large-format photographs, texts, audio stations and films, offers an informative and lively tour through the centuries. 

Interpretation and hands-on experience are central: interactive and media-based offerings invite visitors of all ages to experience industrial history practically and sensually. In-depth layers appeal to specialist visitors, while specially prepared audio programmes also bring the past to life for children. In this way, MUSIT opens up a variety of ways to access the history of the city and its industry.
