The magnificent Doberlug Castle once belonged to the Electors of Saxony. As a secondary residence and hunting lodge for the Dukes of Saxony-Merseburg, it enjoyed a golden age of courtly life in the 17th and 18th centuries. Today, the Dohna-Schlobitten East Prussian Aristocratic Collection showcases aristocratic culture ‘At its finest’. Another exhibition traces the Saxon-Prussian history of the monastery, the castle and the planned town. The natural history of the region is brought to life by the modern visitor information centre of the Lower Lusatian Heathland Nature Park.
