The Railroad Museum at the Blumberg-Zollhaus Station

The Blumberg Railroad Museum, housed in the former freight shed at the Blumberg-Zollhaus station,
traces the history of our “Sauschwänzlebahn” and displays many nostalgic
mementos from the bygone era of steam railroads.
• The museum is open on operating days one hour before departure and after the trains arrive.
• Admission is included in the fare.

Since 1992, the “Sauschwänzlebahn” has been complemented by a museum housed in a building that matches the era’s style. The
City of Blumberg, as the owner, succeeded in creating an interesting setting by repurposing the former freight shed at the
Blumberg-Zollhaus station.
Friends of the museum railway, with special assistance from Mr. Bernhard Prillwitz and Mr. Dietrich Reimer,
as well as the Blumberg municipal maintenance yard, contributed their expertise and great dedication to the establishment of the
museum. The decision to choose this location achieved several goals: The museum is housed in
a space that is itself intended to be preserved as a museum piece. It is in direct
proximity to the railroad and provides the foundation for potential expansions planned in the vicinity
of the station.

The railroad museum displays objects—selected with museum-educational care—that were part of the
“day-to-day operations” of a railroad line for many
decades:
signals, train signaling and switch control devices, equipment parts, signs
