The Museum Harbour in Hamburg-Altona is a living collection since 1977. The ships docked at the Elbe riverbanks are still operational and typical for the history of commercial marine traffic on the lower Elbe river.

You can see sailing vessels for fishing and transport, steam tug boats, the steam icebreaker “Stettin” and motor boats used by police and customs. Highlights are the lightship “Elbe 3” which formerly guided traffic in the Elbe mouth and the floating crane “Karl Friedrich Steen” with a lifting capacity of 30 tons built in 1928. On shore there is a typical harbour crane built 1898 by Kampnagel which marks the progress of electrification.
