In Weimar, the Ginkgo Museum is devoted to presenting ginkgo plants and their most notable representative, Ginkgo biloba, as well as their role in culture and everyday use.
As a privately run institution based in Weimar, the museum opened in the late 1990s. It is operated by private proprietors who have been trading ginkgo products since 1992.
The exhibition combines botanical fundamentals with cultural-historical contexts. It presents the evolutionary history of the genus Ginkgo, the significance of Ginkgo biloba in different cultural contexts, and the diverse forms of use.
